According to a recent Inade study (http://www.inade.org/web/) with information facilitated by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (https://www.agpd.es/index.php), six of every seven insurance brokers and brokerages with registered offices in Galicia do not comply with the current regulation of data protection of personal nature. The institute recuerda that "in carrying out activities, these insurance professionals deal with sensitive and very confidential information about their clients and because of this should use and treat it with the only end of offering them the independent, professional and imparcial advice as well as to facilitate to the insurance entity that essential information to formalize the contract of insurance". It adds that "data as confidential as those referring to the health, the patrimony, the slowness, signs of identity... they are dealt with by these insurance professionals that are considered by December 13th Organic Law 15/1999 of Data Protection of a Personal Nature as those responsible for their treatment". Failure to comply with this norm results in a sanctioning with fines from 600 to 600,000 euros. According to this data, the province which has the greatest percentage of incompliance is Lugo (65,38%), followed by Pontevedra (61,07%), La Coruña (59,29%) and last, Orense (53,33%). Besides, the 77% of the brokers that infinge on the norm 51% of the brokerages don't have their data files declared before the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
